Ellen Page played them in “X-Men: Future is Past” and “Last Resistance”: Now Mutant Kitty Pryde aka Shadowcat is to get her own movie, directed by Tim Miller (“Deadpool”).
Kitty Pryde, also known as Shadowcat, was already able to march through the walls in the cinema: her first major appearance was in “X-Men 3”, where she competes with Rogue (Anna Paquin) for Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) and in the final Fight on Alcatraz meddles. In “X-Men: The Future Is Past” it is Kitty (again played by Ellen Page) who returns Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) with her powers in time. As Collider confirmed by sources, Fox is currently working on an “X-Men” abacus centering on Kitty Pryde. Tim Miller, who staged the successful, popular, nasty comic adaptation “Deadpool”, therefore works on the “Kitty Pryde” film and could take over the direction – if the project actually goes into rotation.
Who would take the lead role in “Kitty Pryde”, is open in view of the early stage of the project. As colleagues at Collider emphasize, work on “Kitty Pryde” had begun before Disney announced plans to buy 21st Century Fox, including the famous movie studio and rights to the “X-Men”. It remains to be seen whether the mouse group will drive the project forward, and Tim Miller will next, anyway, first take care of staging the new “Terminator”.
With “Kitty Pryde” is a possible new “X-Men” -solofilm. The mutant horror “X-Men: New Mutants”, the mutant fun “Deadpool 2” and the new mutant ensemble film “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” are guaranteed in 2018. On February 14, 2019 follows the long-planned “Gambit”. “Deadpool” (2016) and “Logan” (2017) have been success stories for Fox, with individual (anti) heroes shining in adult release and style films.
